The formation of Miniature American Shepherds of Canada (MASCAN) in 2014 marked an important milestone in supporting and promoting the breed nationally. Since then, the breed has continued to gain recognition across Canada through several important achievements:
July 1, 2018 — Eligible to compete as a Listed Breed in CKC Group 7 (Herding)
December 2022 — Achieved enough support from CKC members for full recognition
January 2025 — Officially approved under the Animal Pedigree Act by Agriculture Canada
